The new ABC series Revenge had such potential. Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) is a wealthy young woman with a serious past seeking revenge on the people who framed her father. Thorne moves back to the Hampton beach home she once shared with her father, setting into motion her evil plan in this twisted tale of lies.
Armed with a hefty inheritance and her father’s journals, Thorne takes down the guilty one by one each week. But her attention never strays far from her main focus: Victoria (Madeleine Stowe), her father’s former lover who betrayed him. Along the way, Thorne meets a possibly ally in computer guru Nolan (Gabriel Mann) and sneakily becomes involved with Victoria’s son.
While the show is entertaining, the plot is somewhat predictable. VanCamp is very believable as Thorne and has great chemistry with her supporting actors. At points the show can become a bit cheesy when the acting falls through and the plot line gets too soap-operaish.
