Cheerleaders win 35 awards at summer camp

The cheer team won 20 team awards and 15 individual awards when they attended National Cheer Association summer camp, July 17-20.

“We had two full weeks of practice to prepare before camp,” cheer coach Haley Delvizis said. “We got all these awards and so it really paid off. We are really excited to bring home several awards.”

The freshman team received three Excellent ribbons, three Superior ribbons and the Champion Chant Award. The Junior Varsity team received one Excellent ribbon, five Superior ribbons and the Crown Involvement Award. The Varsity team received six Superior ribbons and the NCA S.P.O.T. award.

The All-American Nominees were freshmen squad members Brittany Gardner, Sara Bahr, Nicole Tillman, Jaymee Perry and Sylvia Skenadore; JV team members Haley Farris, Lacie Jones, Amanda Langford, Megan Chrisman, Brittaney Peterhans, and Lexi Klino; and Varsity cheerleaders Kathleen Kani, Alix Anderson, Emily Watson and Shannon Black.

Together the teams also won the Herkie Team Award and a bid to the NCA National Championships in Dallas.
