With soccer season underway and many high expectations, we asked players about their thoughts on the season so far and their feelings about the game.
Boys Soccer
How are the teams doing so far? How does the team expect to do?
“The team is doing pretty good so far. I feel like we have a bright future ahead of us going into district.” Francisco Arzeno, 11
How did the teams prepare for the season?
“We have been practicing a lot, even a couple of times during the break. We had a couple of tournaments and played against some good competition, so it helps us figure out how district is going to go.” Riley Helbert, 12
Based on the success form last year, what is the team working towards this year?
“We’ve been growing more than teams in the past. We want to go further in the playoffs and hopefully win district, too.” Jacob Zepeda, 12
How would you describe being on the field during a game?
“You have to stay focused and make sure you’re doing your part on the team. There’s definitely an adrenaline rush the whole time.” Zach Ingram, 12
Girls Soccer
How are the teams doing so far? How does the team expect to do?
“It’s different than last year because we have a lot of new players since we lost a lot of seniors, but as of right now, we are doing pretty well. There’s a lot of expectation from last year since we made it to the state tournament, so hopefully we place high in district.” Allie Loza, 11
How did the teams prepare for the season?
“We’re all really trying our hardest during practice. We have a lot of good players, but other teams do as well. When we compete against each other in practice, it helps us prepare for teams like Cedar Park or Cedar Creek.” Alyssa Ashley, 11
Based on the success form last year, what is the team working towards this year?
“We went really far last year, so we’re trying to do the best we can. We have a lot to live up to but we’re working hard to win as many games as we can.” Alivia Sparschu, 11
How would you describe being on the field during a game?
“Well, as a goalkeeper, I’m not on the field running around, but I’m in the back engaged with what’s going on. I notice what we can improve on and what were doing really well on.” Celise Phillips, 12
