For the first time in Rouse history, IntoneNation, our show choir group, is going to a state competition on Saturday, Feb. 25.

“I’m really excited, it’s a new thing for show choir,” senior Jordan Kuzmack said. “It’s just a good experience and hopefully it’s gonna expand show choir down here in the Austin area. Everyone’s really excited and nervous, but it’s gonna be a fun time and we’re gonna meet some awesome people.”

They’ll have 25 minutes to perform six songs consecutively, with Light Up the World and Magic included among them and the theme of their performance is Lights. The goal of this performance is to showcase their talents and make it to finals.

“We’ve had setbacks, but I think that all of us believe that if we fully commit that we can advance to finals,” senior Kaziah Crawford said. “Even though we’re beginners, and this is the first year that we’re really doing anything like this, I believe in IntoneNation.”

Finishing off this year, show choir has their Capital City Showcase competition on March 24-25 and their IntoneNation Show Choir performance on April 28.

“I’m feeling grateful and blessed for being lucky enough to get to be a part of what I see as the beginning of something great at this school,” Crawford said. “Ms. Rhodes has really done a lot for show choir and I’m glad I joined when she became the director of it. I’m looking forward to watching it grow and get better after I leave.”
