Heroes in Scrubs

Students generally sign up for Health Science 2 class to learn more about the medical profession. To gain experience in their chosen career field, they get to work in different parts of the hospital such as physical therapy, ICU, surgery and labor and delivery.

Senior Letty Rosas is one of 16 students who has the opportunity to partake in the hospital rotations at the Cedar Park Regional Medical Center.

“I really enjoy being able to go in and work with people in the profession I hope to acquire,” Rosas said. “The work we do is very hands on. It’s helpful being able to get many questions answered.”

Being the only boy in the class, senior Michael McArthur was a bit concerned at first, but quickly realized his worries were not needed.

“Considering the fact that I moved to Leander last year, and I grew up surrounded by boys, I was a bit surprised to see how quickly everyone in the class was to accept me,” McArthur said. “Having to work with all females has allowed me to experience communication and teamwork in a whole new light.”
