Basic Maintenance
Fourteen career prep students recently joined with two automotive students to learn some basic maintenance procedures for their car.
“I hope they gained some knowledge and can apply it in everyday life situations,” automotive teacher Jim Davis said.
The students learned how to change their oil, how to check different fluids, how to check the pressure of a tire, and where to look for leaks.
“Our students that were teaching the class know what is important to them in this stage of their life,” Davis said. “Most kids are buying their first car and need to know how to take care of it.”
They also went over what different fluids are for, how to change a flat tire, and what information can be found in the owner’s manual.
“We’ve got great students,” career prep teacher Brenda Knight said. “They do really well in skills and it was very eye opening for some of mine because we just take it for granted.”
