Volleyball back on the court
Teams head to Copperas Cove Aug. 8, play first home match Aug. 9
August 6, 2016
Varsity volleyball is already back on the court with three matches and two tournaments before school starts.
“I feel really excited about this upcoming season,” junior Maddie Sheehan said. “We’ve worked really hard through the off season mentally and physically so I’m looking forward to see how this upcoming season goes.”
All four teams open the season at Copperas Cove, Aug. 8. Freshman A and junior varsity play at 3 p.m. while freshman B and varsity start at 4 p.m.
The teams play their first home matches the next day against Fredericksburg. Freshman A and JV play at 5:30 while varsity takes the court at 6:30 p.m.
They’ll play crosstown rival Leander at Aug. 16 before heading to San Antonio for the SA Northeast ISD tournament, Aug. 19-20, just days before school begins.
“This year will definitely be one of the best years for the Rouse volleyball program,” senior Mallory Vargas said. “We have flipped the script and have made changes to not only how we train on and off the court, but we have been extremely focused on our mental game. With all this in place, Leander will definitely be a great match for us, but we will be prepared and will come away with a win.”
