Raider Camp 2016

Incoming freshmen encouraged to attend to learn Rouse traditions and campus

Student Council will host Raider Camp for incoming freshmen, Aug. 11-12  Raider Camp is an opportunity for ninth graders to get familiar with the campus, meet other students and learn school traditions.

“Raider Camp is a great way for our upperclassmen to give back to our school and share the culture they want Rouse to have,” StuCo Advisor Madi Houston said. “It’s important for our incoming students to understand that Rouse is a community and a place for them to feel at home, not just a building full of books.”

Raider Camp is on August 11th for all incoming freshman. Drop off begins at 3:30 p.m. and the camp begins at 4 p.m., beginning with a mini pep rally in the gym where the band, cheer team and dance team will preform.

“With the pep rally the incoming freshmen finally get to experience a high school pep rally and how fun they are compared to middle school,” student body secretary Katie Whelan said. “I know when I went to Raider Camp the pep rally was so awesome and made you feel like you were finally a high schooler.”

Raider Camp ends at  8 p.m. with students receiving their schedules at the end of the evening. There will be parent meeting in the auditorium on both nights at 7 p.m. The camp concludes with a social event Aug. 12 from 6-8 p.m. The theme for Raider Camp this year is Superheroes and Villians.

“I’m super excited about it, it’s an amazing opportunity for Rouse students to welcome freshmen in,” student body president Joshua Sanders said. “I think as an upperclassman, it’s important to invest in younger student’s lives to help them avoid the mistakes we made during high school. Raider Camp is a great chance for the freshman to find that advice early on.”
