Vampire Diaries
Season Finale, May 12
Thursdays, 7

Drama, romance, and good looking people – what more could you ask for in a show? Vampire Diaries is centered around teenager Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) who lives in Mystic Falls, Virginia and manages to have a best friend who is a witch, a boyfriend who is a vampire, and a childhood friend who is a werewolf. A lot of danger surrounds these supernatural people and those who become involved with them, especially in the Season 2 finale.
Season 1 was all about introducing characters and dipping your toes into the whirlwind plot. Season 2, however, kept you on the edge of your seat constantly and brought in four extra twists: evil vampire Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev) returning, the Sun and the Moon curse, bad boy Klaus, and, you guessed it, werewolves. Lots of people died in this season, which was unexpected, and you get to witness the characters true colors first hand.
The finale begins with Elena and her brother, Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) attempting to go back to a ‘normal life’ after the death of their aunt and guardian, Jenna Sommers (Sara Canning) by attending one of the many Mystic Falls’ events, a screening of Gone with the Wind.
However, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), Elena’s vampire boyfriend, shows up telling Elena that his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is dying due to a werewolf bite. The only way to find a cure is by contacting evildoer vampire Klaus (Joseph Morgan), who they already attempted to kill. Needless to say, nobody is happy with this idea.
The best thing about this show is the dynamics of it. There are so many twists and turns that if you miss a show you’re completely lost. Some might say this is a bad thing, but I enjoy getting sucked in. The finale definitely created some plot turns that I’m excited to see develop in Season 3.
Overall, I am sad to see this season end and will be anticipating the beginning of Season 3 on in the fall. If you want to catch previous episodes, reruns will be on Thursdays on the CW at 7.
