Cheerleading tryouts was probably the most stressful week of my life. Between tumbling every day and learning the tryout material. I practiced everyday trying to make my motions sharp and precise. I was trying to get everything down before Thursday because Thursday was the mock try out. I had everything I needed and I was doing great on my dance and cheer.

They called back my group and I was nervous but I kept thinking to myself that this wasn’t the real thing. They called my number and I did my tumbling pass, then I did my jumps. Everything was going good. I did my standing tumbling and then I did the cheer. The dance was next and the music started. I started off good, but then I messed up and I could not catch up. I was mad that I did not do good on the dance but it was okay because it all depended on Saturday.

When I got home I practiced and practiced in front of my mirror. Friday was the last day before tryouts so I went up to my cheer gym and I tumbled there for two hours and I was so tired. When I got home I went straight to bed because tryouts were the next morning.

That morning I woke up at nine and got ready. I had to be at Vandegrift by 11:30 a.m. While I was driving to Vandegrift I kept thinking in my head “What if I mess up?” “ What if I don’t throw my pass?” All of these thoughts kept going through my head. When we arrived at the school I found my friends and we sat down to stretch. We went in the warm-up room and did our jumps and tumbling. I did the dance one last time before I went out and I did good.

My group was called and we went into the gym where three judges were sitting at a table. I was the last in my group so I was standing there with a smile on my face while the other two girls went. It was my turn and the judges turned their heads and looked at me. I did everything great and the dance was next. I took a breath and the music turned on. I felt so great afterwards.

The rest of the day went by so slow because we did not find out until eight that night. When they were posted and I saw my number under varsity I screamed with excitement. I cannot wait until next year to be on varsity with all of my friends.
