Dress code distractions

Freshman frustrated by rules that makes her miss class

Tatiana Renteria, Journalism I Staffer

They are distracted by my bra strap. A single strap that has fallen out of its place. It’s the most unnatural thing a guy can see. They must not know that I am a teenage girl that has to wear a bra every day. But it gets worse. They are distracted by my shoulders. They shine like a diamond distracting every guy from doing their work. I guess it’s just the fact that my shoulders are so beautiful that nobody can concentrate on their work. So I have to be send down to the office to be dress coded.

Dress code should not matter to a girl because their bra strap or shoulders is showing. Girls should not be punished because they are revealing body parts that every human needs like legs, arms and shoulders. A girl should not be punished simply because a guy cannot control himself over a pair of shoulders or legs.

Just because my shorts weren’t finger length I got sent down to the office. This was telling me that my class time that I need to get to be able to expand my knowledge was less important that being sent down to the office. This was also telling me that a boy’s education is far more important than mine because he needs a distraction free zone to be able to learn.

In the office they told me in a stern voice how I should not be showing my thigh. I guess one or two inches of skin above my knee was too distracting for everyone to handle. They made me call my mother. But guess what, she is the one that bought me the clothes. She is the one that approves of how I dress. But of course, I was a distraction to everyone in the whole school that I had to change to cover up my body.

The compromise is, instead of shaming girls of what they wear people should teach boys from a young age that women are not objects for them. But of course my shoulders shine as bright as a diamond distracting guys from concentrating.
