With the original on South Congress, CPL and north Austinites can now head to the much closer location on Anderson Lane for a taste of Hopdoddy.

The hopping burger place is just as known for its long lines and environmental friendliness as its delicious hamburgers and milkshakes.

At Hopdoddy’s they have great customer service and they know how to handle the large amounts of people coming in to eat. (Although we recommend not going at peak times like noon or 6 p.m., unless you’re okay with waiting outside for up to an hour.)

The smiling staffers are amazing while handing out menus, showing people where to order, and then making sure their customers are satisfied. When waiting for the food to come out to the table, they bring around small samples of milkshakes which is a nice plus.

The food comes out on a metal tray with brown paper underneath, to avoid waste and even the silverware, cups and to go containers are biodegradable.

With 12 different burgers to choose from, I selected The Classic, an angus beef burger with lettuce, onion, tomato and sassy sauce. The juicy burger had shiny, fluffy bun and comes with tasty, hand-cut french fries. Biting down through the patty after crunching on the lettuce and tomatoes made the wait worth it. For the more adventurous, Hopdoddy also offers a bison burger, sushi-grade tuna and a veggie burger.

If you’re up for splurging, go for the Truffle fries, which have parmesan cheese dusted on the hand-cut fries. And if you still have room (or split your burger to save room), try one of the decadent shakes. At $6, this 16 oz shakes are worth the price. The caramel and sea salt shake is a favorite with its sweet and salty flavor.
