Video Game Club gives students chance to try out new games, different gaming systems

Video Game Club allowed students to share their love for video games and try out different game systems.

The sound of clicking on buttons and keyboards, random noises, people’s chatter, and music from computers, phones, and televisions fill the room; and multiple screens on at the same time; this is all normal for the video game club.

“Video Game club is having a good time,” senior Alexander Acosta said. “We all have a thing in common, like our love for video games.”

Acosta is the president of this club. Sometimes, he just thinks this club is his way of a good time.

“What I like about this club is that you get a break from stress because school is tough, and I can just relax and play games with other people,” Acosta said.

Acosta said he doesn’t just go to this club just to play games. He also wants to be social with this club and interact with other people. Acosta also thinks this club can allow people to join together and allow total strangers to become best friends. He even recommends some people who have interests or are from other clubs to try this club.

“I recommend this club for people that love video games and making new friends,” Acosta said. “I guess that freshmen, band, music, Game Club itself, and probably the Art Club would like this club.”

The meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in 6205. Members bring in consoles to play different video games, including sometimes other systems like Nintendo to play vintage games.

“It is a positive environment for people to express video games and a place to chill out,” freshman Elayna Blair said. “There’s multiple personalities and you can meet new people and express your feelings.”
