Leaving faculty, staff members share what they’ll miss about Rouse

I’ll miss the school spirit and inclusiveness, there was a group for everyone in the Raider Nation. I will also miss how all students follow the dress code…”
-Janet Howard, AP Human Geography
Going to Ft. Settlement Middle School in Sugar Land, Texas to teach 8th grade US History

“I will miss my students the most. As a teacher, you come to know your students well and care about what is going on with them. It’s always sad to say goodbye at the end of the school year, but it is especially difficult to go to a different school.”
-Arielle Wenerstrom, Pre-AP English I & English II
Going to Cedar Park High School to teach English I and Pre-AP English II

“I honestly will miss the students and staff. It’s fantastic, they’re great people and I hate to leave. That’s why I’m excited about going to Glenn because I’ll know all the students. Well, I should know at least the 10th graders, all of them. So, the people. I know it’s trite but it’s honest.”
-Joseph Haus, Spanish I & Spanish II
Going to Glenn High School to teach Spanish

“I’m going to miss my coworkers, when students get that a-ha moment, my athletes, and having a summer break.”
-Lindsey Williams, AVID 9 & 12, Varsity Girls Soccer Coach
Going to work for a real estate company as a transition coordinator

“I will miss all of my previous students. I have worked at Rouse for four years and I love that every class period when I stand in the hall I know at least half of the students and they all say, ‘Hi!’ I have been so fortunate to have such wonderful classes.  I will also miss the Science department, especially Ms. Smith and Ms. Powell. We have already decided we are going to have a cross campus PLC. It is so important that when teaching gets stressful to surround yourself with an amazing team and group of friends.  I am so fortunate to have found that at Rouse.

-Andrea Wheat, Engineering

“Believe it or not, I’m going to miss worknights. My newspaper staff truly became a family when we sat together for dinner and shared our stories of what had been good and bad about our week. And I’ll miss working with the students and seeing their ideas turn into beautiful and tangible stories, photos and designs. I’ll also miss being on the sidelines. There’s something incredible about being in that moment, witnessing history and then getting to share it with Raider Nation.”
-Kel Lemons, Newspaper & Yearbook Adviser
Going to work for Balfour as their Creative Accounts/Education Manager

“I will miss the wonderful kids and staff I have worked with for eight years. I will miss the library I started here which was a great honor to establish. It has been a joy and honor to be the librarian here and I will miss it immensely.”
-Chin Arritola, Librarian

“I have worked at Rouse only since last October, but I am a parent of a Rouse High School alum who graduated in 2014.  Leaving Rouse will be sentimental for me as it has been a part of my family’s life since 2010. Working here has given me an inside view of how tremendously hard the teachers and staff work to provide our students with every opportunity to have a great education and memorable experiences during their years in high school. I wish every parent had the opportunity for this ‘behind the scenes’ glimpse to gain a deeper appreciation for ALL that they (the teachers and staff) do.  Thank you Rouse for your investment into my son, and for giving me the opportunity to work for a great school.”
-Casey Stauber, Receptionist

-Kimberly Williams, ICAP instructional assistant

-Tina Pasak, Assistant Principle

“Probably the students and then the science department. It was a hard decision to make because I feel so at home here and I don’t have problems with students in my classroom. I love seeing all the kids walk down that I’ve had in class before, but just the opportunity to open a new school and have the opportunity to be a leader at that new school was kind of why I’m going.”
