Senior Madie Boreman will find herself at state for the fourth time.

“It feels good getting to go to state again,” Boreman said. “I started off high school winning and now I get to end it winning again.”

Boreman, who won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs at regionals in Waco May 6-7, will compete at the 6A state track meet at The University of Texas, May 13-14.

“I was happy with both of them,” Boreman said. “Both races were pretty tactical and I don’t think I was better in any specific one, I haven’t done as many 3200 as I have miles.”

In the one mile race, Boreman won the 3200 in 10:42.65 and the 1600 in less than five minutes, at 4:54.68.

“I just kind of passed one of the girls with 300 meters left in one of my races and picked up the pace for the win,” Boreman said. “It feels really good. I’ve been running faster than ever before.”

Boreman’s personal record in the 1600 is 4:50.36, which she ran at the Texas Relays, the same track she’ll compete on at state. She’s qualified for state track in the 1600 and 3200 all four years of high school, and won the 3200 as a freshman.
