There’ll be more than Raiders on campus Friday. The second annual Senior Signing Day will take place April 29 with students decked out in Longhorn, Aggie and other college gear.

“I think that it’s important,” senior Dustin Asbury said. “Just so that everyone feels like they have accomplished something and they get their accomplishments shown to the whole school. Everyone sees how hard they’ve worked and that it all had payed off. The fact that it’s in front of the whole school makes it even cooler just so people who aren’t going for sports or some big, fancy thing that even getting into college, with is a huge accomplishment, gets recognized.”

This is an event where seniors are invited to share and celebrate their futures and pledge their “pursuit of excellence” as a future alumni of the school. All seniors who have committed to a two or four year college or the military are invited.

Seniors will sign what school they are planning to attend and wear their school’s colors.

“It is important for all the school to see other people’s success and see that it’s not imposable to go to the places you want to go,” senior Chet Hamilton said. “Show them that they need to work hard like all the seniors that are going to collage this year, in order to be there in our seats next year, or two years, or three years after that.”

Senior Signing Day will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the competition gym.

“I’m excited for it because it’s a fun thing to do,” Asbury said. “To walk in there and show people that you made it and that it’s all be worth something.”
