The Advanced Productions Theatre class performed The Butler Did It, May 4. This play was a murder mystery where the audience was able to guess the killer.
“I felt pretty clever knowing I was the killer and no one else knew,” junior Dani Davis said.
The play focuses on Mrs. Maple, played by Sophia Schwab, who invites a group of detective writers to a weekend party at Ravenswood Manor. These writers have one rule, they have to dress and act as the characters from their books. At this mystery party one of the characters is murdered. The rest of the characters and the audience try to figure out who is the killer.
“Everyone on stage was working toward the same goal, but in different ways,” sophomore Rachel Sloan said. “It added a lot of dimension to the show because you show each characters approach.”
During intermission the actors came off stage to mingle with the crowd. After talking to all of the characters, the audience guessed the killer. All of the correct guesses were entered into a raffle and a winner was drawn. The winner of the $100 Best Buy gift card was Roberto Gelleni.
“I’m not seeing any of the money so I don’t really care,” sophomore Oliver Gelleni said. “But I’m happy for my dad.”
