Seniors Samantha Hull and Nicole Laird took first place at FCCLA state, April 9.

Hull won in the Life Event Planning Occupational category for their planning of a field trip for Jim Plain Elementary.

“We were very excited considering this was decided our last time competing since we are both seniors,” Laird said. “We just know out of LISD we were the only ones in that category that placed and so we’re really excited.”

Katy Goertz and Kennedy Romero also represented the school at the state competition. By taking first, Hull and Laird qualified for nationals again, a competition that will take place this summer in San Diego.

“We decided not to go to nationals this year because we are going on a senior trip instead,” Laird said.
