Senior Chet Hamilton played the piano for his talent in the Mr. Maroon pageant. Hamilton won the pageant and crowd favorite, receiving free prom tickets, a free tuxedo rental and certificates for flowers and dinner.

What was your favorite part?
My favorite part was just performing with all the seniors I’ve known throughout the years.

What did you do for the talent portion?
I played the piano and a little of the harmonica.

What do you think about the questions asked?
Some were hard, but I got all the easy ones, which can be a good or bad thing. One of my questions was “What animated character would you be and why?” I said Spongebob Squarepants.

Were you nervous at all throughout the competition?
It was weird. Being in theatre I don’t get nervous too often anymore. In a play you are with multiple people on stage, but in the case there was a lot more pressure because you’re by yourself and all eyes are just on you.

How did you feel about the competition?
I did think I had some tough competition. There were great singers such as Ramon Lott and Cole Shuffield. I didn’t think too much about having a shot at winning. I just wanted to perform.
