The varsity boys soccer team wrapped up their season March 11 with a loss at Hendrickson. The team finished 2-11-1 in district and 4-13-3 overall.

“We lost a lot of games,” sophomore Chris Culler said. “But we also won some and tied some, it was a hard season.”

After struggling in the first round of district, the varsity boys bounced back with a 2-1 away win over Cedar Ridge.

“It was a good confidence booster for the team because we had been battling with the other schools in our district so far,” sophomore Rowan Sanford said. “It was just nice to finally get that win in to kind of motivate us to do more.”

During the second round of district, the team beat Westwood 1-0 and tied Cedar Ridge 1-1. They finished the season with 14 goals.

“The Westwood game went good, we did very well as a team,” junior Xavier Ramirez said. “We put forth a lot of effort and came out with a win.”

Captain Luis Jovel was one of the seven seniors recognized at March 8, the team’s final home match.

“Individually, it’s been a good season for me because when big moments come up, like the McNeil game, I really stepped up for my team,” Jovel said. “Overall, it was a great last season for me and all of my senior teammates.”
