Twelve students received a medal at the UIL- related high school art competition, VASE this past Saturday, Feb. 27.

“It went really well we took around 17 student and came back with 12 medals,” Cynthia Acevedo said. “We did really well, the students have to be interviewed by a judge and actually talk about their work and the judge then gives them points based on their interview but also based on the art work that they made and if you fall into a certain category with points then you get a medal so that’s pretty good.”

There were more than 1400 artworks with the highest rating a student can receive being a Superior Rating. Freshman Annalisa Gamboa was one of the 12 students who received a medal.

“I think the competition went well specifically for Rouse,” Gamboa said. “I think I did really good, it was my first time doing it and I got a medal.”

In addition to the Superior Ratings, three students received Excellent Ratings.

All of their art work will be displayed, March 10 in the art building during the Campus Spring Student Art Show.
