Six students placed at the Family Career and Community Leaders of America regional competition, Feb. 12-13 in Corpus Christi.

“At first I was really anxious because it’s my first year,” senior Lauren Mioton said. “Afterwards it was fulfilling to be part of something bigger than myself.”

In the Life Event Planning category, seniors Samantha Hull and Nicole Laird placed first in the subcategory of Occupational, Kennedy Romero placed second in the Senior subcategory and Katy Goertz placed third in the Junior subcategory.

“I upset because I was one point away from first place,” Mioton said. “I was excited though because it was my first time there and I didn’t really know what to expect.”

Mioton won the silver medal in the Education and Training assessment and Halie Wyatt won the bronze medal in the Child Development assessment.

“I really like it,” Mioton said. “It’s a really great organization.”

All three teams will compete at FCCLA state in Dallas in April.
