Valentine’s day thoughts

Shayla Anderson, Rumbler Staffer

Valentine’s Day. The day full of hearts, chocolate, roses, flowers in general, sappy love letters, poems, romantic dinners, teddy bears, predictable yet sweet romantic movies, the list goes on and on.

The day all couples more or less the girls are so excited about, but what happens when you have no boyfriend or girlfriend? Frankly, I enjoy being single. I enjoy laughing at movies by myself and eating all the popcorn, knowing I don’t need to share and saving my money.

Then the days comes. The day I realize I don’t want just my grandparents giving me chocolates and gifts. I want that special someone to give it to me. Then I come to realize that for one I’m 14 and I am in high school. I have my whole life ahead of me. I have the world to fall in love with. I don’t need some boy giving me flowers and telling me how much they love me, and then two days later have my heart broken, and frankly I don’t really care about guys right now. My grades comes first.

I’m not one to complain on Valentine’s Day, because the day is dedicated to love. Maybe more towards someone you fancy, but why not to your family or friends. Why not to yourself? You know they say you have to love yourself before you can love anyone else.

To all the couples out there I congratulate you, and hope your journey with your partners continues   forever, but to all the single people out there, live it up!

Have fun, buy yourself chocolate, and buy your parents a lovely gift. Don’t sit and feel sorry for yourself because you’re not in relationship; enjoy the time you have not being in one.

Live your life, make some memories, eat some chocolate, laugh and cry at predictable yet romantic movies, and have a little dance party. The list can go on and on if you just enjoy the day.
