One relay and two individuals advanced to finals at the regional meet, Feb. 5-6.

The girls 200 yard medley relay placed 15th, consisting of Rebecca Erlanson, Keelin Watkins, Natalie Saul and Jaide Castle. Saul and Castle also advanced individually with Castle placing 16th in the 50 yard freestyle and 13th in the 100 yard backstroke and Saul taking 16th in 100 yard freestyle.

“My 100 free felt really strong,” Saul said. “I was so happy to get my personal best at districts, because I’ve been participating so hard this year. The medley relay was really great. Even though I don’t swim fly normally, I was excited to get to swim it in the relay with my friends. As captain, I feel like everybody accomplished their personal goals. Almost everybody improved their times, and we all came together as a team to support each other. I couldn’t be happier with the way every race went.”

Former swim coach Marlene Blanchett, who was subbing for coach Kailah Ramsey and took six relays and two individuals to regionals, witnessed how fast the times were at the meet.

“Out of all the 5A state championships I’ve taken this team to, the 6A regional meet this past weekend was the fastest meet I’ve ever participated in as a coach,” Blanchett said. “The sheer fact that we could hang in with these schools in multiple events says a lot about this team.”
