Having worked in LISD for more than 10 years, Jeremy Spicer is the new band director. Spicer was hired in January after the former director Lee Crochet moved over to a counseling position.

“Jeremy is an energetic leader and has great experience building and growing strong band programs in LISD,” said principal John Graham in an email to the Rouse community. “I am confident that Jeremy’s leadership and experience that will lead Rouse Band in a positive direction.”

Spicer has worked as an assistant band director at Cedar Park and opened Vandegrift as their head band director.

“I’m super excited, I think [Rouse] is a sleeping giant,” Spicer said. “I think the band program is going to shock people this year and next fall. So far it has been great, students have been great, and parents have been great.”

Before leaving to pursue higher education opportunities, he helped build up the Vandegrift band into one of the best programs in the state and plans to bring those ideas here.

“I’m just going to bring certain systems and processes, and focus on student’s individual achievement and ensemble achievement,” Spicer said. “I think through those systems and process, the rest will take care of its self.”
