January 31, 2016
Two swimmers and six relays placed at the district meet, Jan. 30-31. Jaide Castle and Natalie Saul both qualified for finals after competing in the prelims, Friday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
“We did amazing,” Castle said. “We started with the 200 Medley which we were pretty pumped after that, so the adrenaline kept running for our races.”
In the finals Saturday, the two swimmers placed in three events. Saul placed in both of her events, tied for fourth in the 50 Free and finished fifth in the 100 Free. Castle made the podium in both of her events, taking third in the 50 Free and third in the 100 backstroke.
“I got a personal best in both of my individual races,” Saul said. “And I’m hoping to drop more time on my hundred freestyle, hopefully a second or so, at Regionals.
Both swimmers now will compete at regionals this weekend in Conroe. All six relay teams also placed at district. The girls 200 medley had the highest finish, making the medal stand, taking third place. All six relays placed in the top six, qualifying for regionals.
“The 200 Freestyle relay was really strong,” sophomore Brynn Stokes said. “I feel good about that one at regionals.”
