Rouse moves back to 5A

UIL realignment moves Raiders into District 19-5A with Cedar Park. Vandegrift, Leander and Vista Ridge move up to 6A.

Welcome back Rouse. After two years in 6A, the Raiders moved back to 5A for the next two years thanks to the UIL realignment announced Monday.

Rouse moves into Region 3, District 19 with eight other schools, including crosstown rival Cedar Park. They’ll be joined by Bastrop, Bastrop Cedar Creek, Elgin, Georgetown, Georgetown Eastview, Hutto and Pflugerville Connally.

Conferences are based on student enrollment and change every two years. 5A’s enrollment is 1100 to 2049 students. UIL comes out to schools in October to verify enrollment. While Rouse current has slightly more than 2300 students, about 350 of those students are freshmen zoned for Glenn High School which opens next year. Without those students, Rouse falls in the 5A numbers.

While Rouse moved down to 5A and Cedar Park stayed in 5A, the other three high schools moved up to 6A. Leander, Vandegrift and Vista Ridge are now in District 25-6A with Westlake, Lake Travis, Hays and Lehman.

The new high school, Glenn, will be in District 19-4A. To see all of the realignments, please visit the UIL website.
