Alvin and the Chipmunks RCAlvin and the Chipmunks
Director Walt Becker, Rated PG
Dec. 18

The trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip is jam-packed with “funny” scenes that follows Alvin (Justin Long) and his Chipmunk brothers as they try and stop Dave (Jason Lee) from proposing to his girlfriend and moving to Miami. Thinking back to my childhood I remember watching the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies but I remember them being a lot funnier. There are just certain movies that you shouldn’t sequel, and this is one of them. Although, this movie is made for children and family; I personally wouldn’t be able to sit through an hour and 26 minutes of those high pitched voices. They should have stuck with the first one back in ’99. –Destiny De La Paz

SISTERSSisters
Director Jason Moore, Rated R
Dec. 18

Sisters is a comical movie about two sisters excellently portrayed by best friends and masters of comedy, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. Now as adults, they’re dismayed to learn their parents sold their childhood home. Before the house can be sold, Maura (Poehler) and Kate (Fey) decide to throw a huge house party. The movie looks hilarious with a tattoo-covered John Cena cameo and the crazy antics of the sisters trying on slutty clothes and throwing one crazy, last party. There’s also romance mixed in as the divorced Maura tries to get back into the dating scene with the “cute guy next door.” The trailer has several laugh out loud moments with the well-known dynamic duo and makes you want to rush to see it. –Emily Rowe

Peter Landesman’s movie Concussion explains how a forensic neuropathologist, an immigrant for Nigeria (Will Smith), discovers a new disease in a pro football players; repetitive head trauma chokes the brain. In the trailer he demonstrates this head trauma by shaking a can repetitively. He fights to make his discovery known, and even though he is not believed at first he pushes to be heard. JoyJoy
Director David O. Russell, Rated PG-13
Dec. 25

The trailer for Joy features a girl named Joy (Jennifer Lawrence) who is told she will grow up and live a normal life. Joy is a single mom of three who invented the Miracle Mop and is the president of Ingenious Designs. At first the trailer shows her doing just that but as time goes on, you see Joy in a jail and another scene where she is holding guns. This trailer doesn’t give much away about the plot and to be honest is kind of confusing. However, with the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence, talented Robert de Niro and interesting cut scenes, this movie has a mysterious draw that makes you want to watch it. –Jordan Buie
