Last year during the snow day, junior Alex Kunert took a picture of footprints left behind on the bridge at the Block House Creek Park. That picture had led her to the PTSA Reflections national contest in the black and white photography category.
I was really happy about advancing so far because I’ve been working on it so long,” Kunert said. “Last year I went to state so this year I really wanted to get all the way to nationals.”
The theme for the PTSA contest was “Together We Can” and she’s the only student that advanced to nationals from Texas.
“My picture represents the theme because we can follow in each other’s footprints,” Kunert said. “I was inspired to take this photo because I wanted to have plenty of contrast and make simple, normal objects pop. There’s only like a 10 percent chance that I’ll get a medal, but I’m really proud to get this far.”
