Theatre will showcase their Renaissance Festival performances Monday, Nov. 2.

The public performance will be at the outdoor amphitheater, located the steps between the main building and the ACT building, at 5 p.m.

The performance is a precursor to the competition the next day. Theatre classes are traveling to the Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville to compete in the Performing Arts Contest for the seventh year in a row.

“I’m excited because it’s my first time, I mean I’ve been to a Renaissance Festival before just not ever to put on a show,” senior Chet Hamilton said. “To have the opportunity to do one is awesome and also competing with all the other school who come there. It’ll be interesting to see where Rouse places.”

The varsity advanced production students will perform several monologues, duets and group scenes from an 18th century farcical dark comedy, Moliere. And the JV advanced production class are performing The Beggars Opera, another dark comedy.

“The play is really funny,” Hamilton said. “I really hope we will place, I don’t know what to expect but I really hope so. We’ve worked really hard.”
