The Raider Rumbler won Best of Show in the small newspaper division at the Texas Association of Journalism Educators’ Fall Fiesta, Oct. 19. The award was for the Rumbler‘s most recent issue, the Homecoming issue from Oct. 16. The staffers handed the issue, their first this year, during Advocate last Friday.

“We were really surprised when we found out,” adviser Kel Lemons said. “We knew we had put out a good paper, but we had no idea we would win Best of Show. It’s a great testament to the students’ hard work and validation that a print paper is an important part of the school community.”

The three-day annual state convention in San Antonio began Oct. 17 and included individual contests and journalism sessions, and concluded Monday with a keynote speaker and awards ceremony. The 2015 Replay won third place in the small yearbook category.

TAJE  posted a list of all the winners at their website.
