Raiders flashed back a few decades for the annual Homecoming parade, Monday, Oct. 19. For the theme, “Dancing through the Decades,” clubs and sports decked out floats and participants dressed up to match their floats.
“Being in the parade it was nice to see everyone staying a float during the year,” junior Dylan Ehler said. “I’m glad to see people still have school spirit.”
The softball team’s float covered all four decades while other floats centered only on one. Some groups, like theatre, ventured past the set decades and went with a ’20s theme, evoking The Great Gatsby with their clothes and float. The basketball teams went with a Hawaiian look, placing grass skirts around the truck and wearing Hawaiiaan shirts and leis.
“I like seeing all the kids come out, and I like giving them candy and showing them all the aspects of Rouse,” senior Chet Hamilton said. “We were dressed up as people from Great Gatsby and that definitely highlighted the theatre.”
The band, Royals, ROTC, HOSA and cross country all walked in the parade, sans a float.
Even younger participants joined in the parade fun, with elementary students and Rousers being part of the parade.
