Chuy’s Mexican Food

Chuy’s Tex-Mex restaurant has a flare matched by no other restaurant I’ve ever been too. Even if you are on a failed date with constant awkward silences (not that I was) you are entertained by the decorations and photos covering every inch of the walls. Even the ceiling sports colored wooden fish with the names of their employees on them. As I entered and was told the wait would be roughly 15 minutes, I discovered that sheltered in the back of a Cadillac was chips and salsa for me while I waited for a table. Once I was seated I ordered chicken fajitas and they arrived at my table shockingly quick. My service was fantastic and my food delicious and sizzling hot. As much as I have tried I can’t find another Mexican restaurant that has tortillas as amazing as those at Chuys. My experience there was fantastic and brightened my evening. –Rachel Sloan

Hi-Way Café

This Mexican restaurant is a small family-owned café that’s been around for 12 years. Walking in I felt instantly at home, it had plenty of decorations which gave it a real ethnic feeling, while still giving it a restaurant feel. When I ordered a Sprite to drink they brought a cup with ice and a can of Sprite, no refills. And then just like every Mexican restaurant they brought a basket of chips and salsa. The salsa was a little watery, but it was still pretty good. Next I ordered my meal: a tamale, a cheese enchilada and a chicken flauta, all with the traditional beans and rice combo. The tamale was a little bland, and the chicken flauta was a bit crunchy for my tastes, the enchilada redeemed them though. It was delicious and the sauce went with it well. Come to think of it the sauce went well with everything. Overall, it was a decent meal and I liked it. -Nick Hage

If you are in the mood for Mexican food, Guadalajara’s would be a good place to go. It’s not the fanciest restaurant around, it’s more basic, but it’s excellent if you just want to grab a bite to eat. The prices there are very inexpensive and they have good service when they aren’t busy. Saturday and Sunday mornings seem to be the busiest. This restaurant is definitely more Mexican than Tex-Mex and that’s what makes me like it even more. I ordered the milanesa and it came with a generous amount of rice, beans and fries. Although when I saw the salad on the menu, I thought it would come with a regular house salad. They surprised me with a bit of lettuce on the side of my plate as a “salad,” which was a bit disappointing. It’s hard to find a restaurant with authentic Mexican food and that’s why Guadalajara’s has to be one of my favorite places to go. –Samantha Arreola

My family and I have always been very big fans of a little place called La Margarita. This tasty restaurant started serving their food 20 years ago and has been successful ever since. Their food is prepared and served hot off the grill. Their menu has something for everyone. If you weren’t a fan of Mexican food when you walked in, I guarantee you will be when you walk out. One of my personal favorites is their famous Mexican white wings, which is what I got when I recently ate there. Along with that, I ordered my regular meal. The most mouth watering chicken enchiladas with a green tomatillo sauce, served with a side of Mexican rice and refried beans. This restaurant is not only known for their food, but its friendly atmosphere. Every time I eat at La Margarita, I am always incredibly satisfied with my food and service. Something very unique about this restaurant is that the manager works as a waiter to ensure that his customers are satisfied with their food and serves. –Kennedy Woodward
