The marching band has taken a large step this year in terms of competitions. They placed fourth overall at the Westlake marching festival, Oct. 10

“We advanced to finals which was great because we haven’t gotten that in a long time,” senior Xavier Fitzgerald said. “And since it’s my last year it felt good to accomplish that.”

They also traveled to the Bands of America regional in Conroe, Oct. 3 where they placed 16th out of 32, a stronger finish than last year.

“Conroe was interesting,” junior Brad Smith said. “Although we didn’t advance to finals, which was disappointing.”

The band has two more contests this month. They have a UIL Marching Contest Saturday, Oct. 17 at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex and Bands of America in San Antonio, Oct. 31.
