The varsity volleyball team had their best finish in school history at the annual Volleypalooza tournament, Aug. 27-29. The team won six of nine games and finished ninth out of 48 teams.

“I think it went great. It’s always been fun since I’ve been on varsity,” senior Averi Foster said. “Hosting our own tournament allows us to show off our school and school spirit with people that come and watch. The play was even better.”

Varsity went 2-1 in pool play the first day, winning their first two matches in straight sets against Hutto and Texas City and losing in three sets to Aledo in the final match of the day.

On Friday, they went 2-1, dropping the first match to Reagan 2-0, who won the tournament. They bounced back with three set wins over St. Agnes Academy and Lake Dallas.

On the final day the team traveled to Leander to play in the silver division. The team lost to Cedar Park in straight sets, but defeated Tomball Memorial 2-1 and MacArthur 2-0, earning third place in the silver division and ninth overall.

“We finished better than we ever have before,” Foster said. “And it makes me even more excited for the rest of this season.”
