The annual Raider Camp welcoming incoming freshmen will take place Aug. 12-13. Raider Camp is an opportunity for ninth graders to get familiar with the campus, meet other students and learn school traditions.

“I think it’s an important tradition because it helps unite the incoming freshman class instead of being three different middle schools,” student body president Dustin Asbury said. “It also unites the whole school because the upperclassmen get to meet the freshmen and show them around and help get them more excited about high school.”

This year’s theme is “America” with Student Council members getting into the stars and stripes spirit and encouraging students to wear patriotic colors.

“I feel that the American theme is something that can get a lot of participation because anyone can wear red, white or blue,” student body treasurer Alan Orwick said. “This participation gets the freshmen excited because they feel more involved with their groups, leaders and each other.”

Students with the last names beginning A-K should attend Aug. 12 and students with last names L-Z attend Aug. 13. Drop off is 3:30 p.m. and the camp begins at 4 p.m., beginning with a mini pep rally in the gym.

Raider Camp ends at 8 p.m. with students receiving their schedules at the end of the evening. There will be parent meeting in the auditorium on both nights at 7 p.m. The camp concludes with a luau Aug. 14 from 6-8 p.m.
