If you like fried food and pie the Texan Café is the place for you. This western style diner will make you feel right at home. The food is actually very good once you get it, but isn’t always worth the hour wait, especially when you see table after table getting their food.

My chicken tenders were wonderful except that they were a little on the salty side, but my sides were close to perfect. My mashed potatoes were covered in thick and creamy gravy, and my fried okra was fried to perfection.

But what you really want is the pie. You have a wide selection from key lime to Oreo, I choose a family favorite, turtle. The peanut butter pie had the perfect amount of whipped cream, pecans, caramel and chocolate, making the trip to Hutto worth it. This home-style diner really knows how to make a pie worthwhile. Overall, the Texan Café & Pie Shop is a very clean place that the whole family would love. Though it may be pricey and a little slow it’s all worth it, especially if you get dessert.
