The Royals will host their “Save the Last Dance” camp, Aug. 17 – 20. The classes are half or full day for first through ninth grades with classes according to ability and show-off performances.

Full day camp is Monday through Wednesday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. It is $180 for the first child; $150 for siblings.

Morning half day camp is Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. It is $100 for the first child; $80 for siblings.

Camp activities include classes taught according to grade and/or ability level. Grades eighth and ninth are offered a pre-drill class. There is no prior dance experience necessary. Different dances are taught in the morning and afternoon sessions.

“You should do the camp because it gives younger dancers in the community insight into what it takes to become a Royal and the opportunity to experience and witness what ‘sisterhood’ really means,” assistant director Jennifer Bussear said.

Campers should attend class wearing something comfortable for dancing and have their hair pulled out of face, a water bottle with their name on it, and full day campers must bring a sack lunch every day.

Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt, a photo with the Royals, and a snack that is provided in the morning and each afternoon. Campers will get the opportunity to perform their dance, Thursday Aug. 20 at noon.

“At camp we are going to be able to allow the kids to experience our joy in dancing while showing them what it’s like to be a Royal,” Royal Keesley Stroschein said.

Registration can be done by downloading the “Save the Last Dance” Summer Dance Camp form on the Royals dance camp website and mailing registration form and payment to the address listed on the form. Or campers can register online on the Royals web site.
