Red velvet_JB (1)Red Velvet Cake Blizzard

While it only took a quick 30 seconds to make, I greedily awaited to taste the Red Velvet Cake Blizzard. However, I didn’t think it lived quite up to its reputation. The first bite tasted more like the white icing that goes on top of the cake than the actual red velvet part. Even the red velvet chunks kind of tasted like angel cake. While the overall taste of the blizzard wasn’t the greatest, the consistency of the cup was perfect. The ice cream was just creamy enough while still being solid instead of a dripping mess, and the red velvet chunks were just spongey enough to taste like someone sliced off a real piece of cake into the treat. In the end, the Red Velvet Cake Blizzard didn’t live up to the taste I was hoping, but it pleasantly surprised me with the texture. –Jordan Buie

MichelleBlizard2Mint Oreo Blizzard

As a fan of mint chocolate chip ice cream since practically infanthood, I was extremely excited to try the Mint Oreo Blizzard. I’m quite happy to say that I was not disappointed with the soft serve I got. The classic Oreo chunks combined with the ice creamy goodness of both mint and vanilla, the blizzard was a perfect blend. It was complete with a splendid ratio of mint to Oreo. As a quick to go item or a sit down treat, I’d recommend this blizzard for both a hot summer day and a breezy spring one. It’s simple and delicious and perfect for any fan of mint or Oreos. Simply put, this delight is just that, a delight.-Michelle Contreras

Oreo Blizzard_KNOreo Blizzard

Wen I took my first bite ever of a Dairy Queen blizzard, I was expecting a bit more than I got. I tried the Oreo Blizzard and was thoroughly disappointed. It wasn’t bad, but it tasted like Blue Bell Cookies and Cream ice cream. Other than the two seconds of wonder I got when the cashier flipped my cup over to show that my blizzard indeed could withstand gravity, it was an average boring ice cream. It made my front teeth ache, gave me a brain freeze, and was so sickly sweet that I couldn’t even finish it. -Kristin Nicol

Alyssa blizzard3Chocolate Xtreme Blizzard

The Dairy Queen Chocolate Xtreme Blizzard is a fun dessert for anyone who loves chocolate. The chocolate ice cream was dotted with chocolate pieces that added a nice crunch to the smooth ice cream, but they weren’t so big that they distracted from the textures in the cup. Also mixed in were brownie bites, adding a burst of chewy chocolate flavor. The ice cream was very thick and smooth, and it had chocolate flavoring that was just sweet enough as to not overpower the rest of the chocolate mixed in it. There was a good ratio between crunchy and chewy and smooth, and there is absolutely nothing that should change about it. –Alyssa Jingling
