Aurasma app provides video, extra photos with yearbook
Students use their phones to pull up additional coverage in the 2015 Replay

Want to see AP Brandon Evans hit that toe touch at the pep rally? See the cheerleaders drop ice water over their heads for the Ice Bucket Challenge? See additional photos of football season, theatre, Mr. Maroon, spirit days and Homecoming?
Thanks to a new app, you can see all those videos and photos as part of the 2015 Replay. The yearbook features Aurasma, a free new app that scans certain pictures in the book and pulls up a picture gallery or video on your smartphone of the event.
“It’s something completely new and unique that we’ve never had before,” sophomore Jaci Chavera said. “So it makes this book extra special.”
In order for Aurasma to recognize and pull up the gallery and videos, first create an account on the app then follow the RouseReplay channel and lastly, hold the phone over the entire image. It is recommended that students download the Aurasma app at home since it will not full load on the school Wi-Fi.
“We thought the Aurasma app was a great way to provide additional coverage of the yearbook,” yearbook adviser Kel Lemons said. “We had so many additional photos from the year and this was a great way to let students see more of those photos. Also, we had a couple of videos from RNN that we thought people would love to see.”
A small Raider icon is located next to most of the Aurasma pictures and the few pictures that don’t have an icon are listed on a sticker that was placed on the back of the front endsheet, right across from the first page of the book.
“I feel that it’s a great way for people to visual experience memories,” sophomore Bethany Kurdi said. “I feel like there are plenty of Aurasma videos in the book.”
