Be My Cupcake is a small store off of Highway 35 with some decorations, but that doesn’t take away from its amazing cupcakes. I got the chocolate-covered strawberry cupcake for $2.50. It looked amazing with its fascinating pink swirls and the little chocolate chips on top. When I took my first bite, my mouth was filled with the best icing I’ve ever tasted and the softest cake. It was very sweet however, but there are also minis that are small versions of the original ones. I would highly suggest going to Be My Cupcake to everyone! –Stephanie Hofmann

Cupprimo

8650 Spicewood Springs Road
Suite 105
Austin, TX 78759

(512) 335-7746

Cupprimo, a cupcakery and coffee spot, is more of a coffee shop than anything else.  The atmosphere is very cramped and the service is honestly very slow. However, the decorations were welcoming and the pictures on the walls of children in a field eating their cupcakes were very cute. I couldn’t find a seat at the bar or at any of the four tables, in the end I ended up sitting outside at a miniature version of a metal table. I ordered a red velvet cupcake and after waiting roughly five minutes in line to choose my dessert. When I took my first bite into the clearly food colored cake I discovered that it was painstakingly dry and stale. It tasted as though it had been baked yesterday and had sat in the display ever since. Overall, my experience at Cupprimo was quite unsatisfying and a sore spot in my afternoon. –Rachel Sloan

Delish

Austin, TX 78701-3879

Delish. The name itself describes their cupcakes. It’s a small place, but it has a great atmosphere. Since it’s a tight space, you get your cupcakes pretty quick. They have different cupcakes available at different times of the day. An individual cupcake is $2.75, but it’s worth it once you take the first bite.  I got the cupcake called “Black and White.” It caught my attention because it had a white chocolate straw. My cupcake had pieces of chocolate in the middle which made it even better once I tasted it. I definitely suggest going to Delish whenever you get a chance. –Sam Arreola

Hey Cupcake

6900 Ranch Road 620 N.

Austin, Texas 78723

As we approached Hey cupcake, I was intrigued by the shiny metal trailer with a huge cupcake sitting on top of the trailer. Even though, there is only one person working the small trailer, the service was quick. I ordered a red velvet cupcake. Other cupcakes they offer are Vanilla Dream, The Standard, Double Dose, Snowcap, 24 Carrot, Michael Jackson and Sweetberry. The cupcakes were gigantic and were topped off with delicious and creamy icing. The cake itself was very dense and moist. I will definitely be going back soon for another cupcake. –Caitlin Topham

Lick it Bite it or Both

11101 Burnet Road, Suite 140-A

Austin, TX 78758

512-835-2684

Lick it Bite it or Both is a cupcakery off of Burnet road in Austin. As you step inside you immediately feel welcomed. The walls are a calming blue and the aroma of baking cupcakes fills the area. The ladies behind the counter were smiling and happy to run to the back and bake a batch of any cupcakes they didn’t have readily available. I ordered the Flavor of the month, which was a chocolate cupcake with coffee flavored icing and was topped with a chocolate covered espresso bean, for $2.50. The icing tasted like coffee flavored heaven, and the espresso bean was the perfect addition. The cake part of the cupcake however was a little dry. Over all the cupcake was amazing. While you eat your cupcake or ice cream you sit along a wall that’s covered in cupcake holders that have been decorated by previous costumers. They’re all really colorful and give you something to do while you sit and eat.  I was glad I made the choice to go to Lick it Bite it or Both and I highly suggest going. –Shelly Spencer

Sugar Mama’s

1905 S. 1st St., Suite A

Austin, Texas 78704

(512)448-3727

In the middle of downtown Austin, a little bakery shop is open to sell fresh homemade cupcakes. The Marilyn Monroe, a buttery vanilla cupcake topped with luscious Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla buttercream is very rich in flavor and has a soft flaky texture. The cupcake itself isn’t dry at all and is kind of moist. The frosting is thick but smooth, and sticks to the top of your mouth, and it has sugar sprinkled on top. It tasted like Candy Land. Sugar Mama’s is keeping Austin sweet, and on your eighth visit any cupcake of your choice is on them. -Victoria Gomez
