RHS hosts annual district wide art show
May 14, 2015
RHS will host the annual LISD Art Exhibit this year. People are invited to show up in the cafeteria and in both the big and small gyms from 12-4 p.m. Saturday, May 16.
“Visual arts doesn’t really have an opportunity to show its work so this is like one of the biggest event that the district hold so that the kids work can be shown,” art teacher Cynthia Acevedo said “It’s pretty cool to host because every school has already done its hosting so we were the last ones on the list.”
With the big and little gyms set up for the elementary students, that leaves the cafeteria for all the middle and high school artwork. To make things easier, the art will be placed in alphabetical order. Drawings, paintings, photographs and sculptures from elementary, middle school and high school students will be included in the show.
“I’m excited and proud,” Jim Plain Elementary Cchool fifth grader Jacob Moreno said. “I worked hard on the picture and tried my best to make it perfect.”
There are going to be other things going on besides the show, like free face painting for the kids and a concession stand. There also may be opportunities for people to buy some of the art work.
“I like face painting,” senior Molly Dwight said. “I got to do it during the Fable Fest which was in the fall so I’m kind of excited to paint on everybody’s faces.”
