Take your mark. Go! The swim team had a strong finish at the district meet, Jan. 24-25.
“The first year we had four people go to regionals,” coach Marlene Chavez said. “Last year we sent eight. And this year we’re sending twelve. The team’s improving every year.”
Six swimmers qualified in individual races, including Mackenzie Alspaugh who won the 200 freestyle.
“It feels great to see all my hard work and dedication has finally paid off,” Alspaugh said. “To be district championship makes me feel proud to represent Rouse at our region.”
Five relays also advanced to regionals. The team competes at regionals in San Antonio, Feb. 4-5.
“It’s great to make it to regionals,” sophomore Dylan James said. “I’m just glad all the hard work is finally over.”
