Two students and the Social Studies team placed at UIL Regionals, Saturday, April 25.

“Regionals was eye-opening because the winning teams score was something we weren’t prepared for,” Social Studies sponsor Michael Hjort said. “But it gave us something to shoot for.”

The Social Studies team won third place by eight points and senior Brandon Walker finished fourth, missing third, and a state entry, by one point.

“It was kind of disappointing to barely lose,” Walker said. “I kinda wish the test had been longer because I knew the other people would’ve eventually slipped up like I did. It was close, and I’m not ashamed of how I did.”

In Poetry Interpretation, junior Eva Serrano-Reisner advanced to finals and finished seventh.

“To be honest I was kind of hoping to at least get sixth because then I would have gotten something,” but Serrano-Reisner said. “I was pretty happy because I didn’t even expect to get into regionals.”
