The school’s Wind Ensemble was recently invited to perform at the 2015 Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, Washington.

“I would like to think about it as this big opportunity for the Wind Ensemble,” senior Raymond Andalis said. “Even though I won’t be able to go because I’m a graduating this year, I wish them good luck.”

The members of the Wind Ensemble will travel to Seattle in November to take part in a three day conference, in which they will perform to an international audience of musicians and educators.

“I was very excited, it came by a letter, which is mail, not e-mail which we so regularly get,” Director Lee Crochet said. “It was really exciting to open up a letter saying they wanted us to come.”

The group have spent the last three months preparing and submitting a repertoire for the convention. The WIBC Board of Directors then review and choose one to two high school bands.

“We worked on it during our regular class periods, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary because we were preparing for contest anyway,” Crochet said. “We are really excited about the progress and the difficulty of the pieces.”
