The track team will have a home advantage at the district meet this year. They’re hosting the 13-6A district track meet, April 7-9.

“It’s great not having to travel to another school, plus we know the track inside out so we’re comfortable with it,” junior Abby Lentz said. “We understand that it’s in the middle of the week, but we appreciate everyone who’s willing to take some time to support us.”

Field events start Tuesday at 4 p.m., and continue Wednesday afternoon. Running prelims for girls start Tuesday at 5 p.m. Running prelims for boys start Wednesday at 5 p.m. Most running finals will happen Friday, starting at 5 p.m.

About 80 Rouse athletes will compete at the district meet in freshman, junior varsity and varsity races. The top four finishers in each varsity event move on to the area meet, April 23 in Marble Falls.

“I think having districts will be an advantage,” girls coach Kelly Thompson said. “Our student body likes track, and they come out and support us well.”
