The varsity girls soccer team wrapped up the season with a loss in their final match at Round Rock, March 24. With a 5-7 district record and 7-10 overall record, this year’s move to a 6A district challenged the team.

“It’s a whole different ball game,” junior Ana Silverio said. “The schools are much bigger than us and we’re a lot more competitive because we’re a smaller 6A school. Especially coming from a great season last year, we have to prove ourselves.”

While the season has been rough for the team, they had big wins against Stony Point. At the Tigers’ field, the girls scored eight times in the first round district match and six goals in the second round match.

“After we scored a couple goals we were able to focus on our tactics and try new things,” sophomore Charlotte Wilson said.

With five seniors leaving out of the 18 players, the team is sad to see them go.

“It’s kinda sad that that it’s at the end and we didn’t do as good as we wanted to do, and I got injured in the last three weeks of the season, so I couldn’t play in our senior night,” senior Jamie Fourcher said. “It’s gonna be tough [leaving the team], we’ve been here four years and last year we made it to semi-finals in playoffs, we were strong this year, but we didn’t really connect as well as we did before. Even though we didn’t do as well as we thought we were going to, I enjoyed playing with them and I hope they do well in the future.”
