The varsity boys soccer team wrapped up their season March 13, winning their Senior Night over Hendrickson, 6-2. Four players scored in the win, with Zackary Ramirez and Luis Jovel scoring two goals apiece, and Zach Nobles and Colter Sanford each adding a goal.

“It felt really good [scoring a goal],” Nobles said. “It was a good way to go out, for seniors. It was a good thing.”

The win was a highlight in a tough season that ended with a 2-5-7 district record and 5-11-7 overall record. The 11 ties, including five in district, was a record high for the school soccer history.

“It went well,” junior Luis Jovel said. “It went well, but not as good as we expected. We knew it was going to get harder going into 6A.”

Having successfully transitioned into the new 6A division, the team has built themselves up and are more prepared for next year. Seven seniors are graduating this year, leaving 12 returning lettermen.

“It was a little disappointing not to make playoffs after what we did last year, but it was a good building year for us, being in 6A, a new district and all,” Nobles said. “I think we were a little scared, but most of us have played for a while so we were prepared pretty well.”
