Rodeo Austin begins Saturday, March 14 and will run until Saturday, March 28 at the Travis County Expo Center. Rodeo Austin has been a lively presence to the Austin area since 1938 where it started out as a simple livestock show. Now, 77 years later, they have live music performance, a fair, and features a top ten ProRodeo.

“I really love the rodeo. It’s a lot of fun,” senior Christina Franklin said. “My favorite thing about the rodeo would have to be the bucking broncs, for sure.”

The rodeo will host a live musical performance every day at 7 p.m. Such bands as Sublime, Panic! At the Disco, the Beach Boys and Willie Nelson will sing after the ProRodeo competitions.

“With who have I feel excited because some of the bands there are actually good,” senior Kenneth Macry said. “Plus it’s a lot more diverse than I expected. It’ll be a lot of fun.”

As well as this, there are fair grounds that open every day at 10 a.m. The fairgrounds feature one of the largest carnivals, shopping, food and many other special events.

“The fairgrounds are fun because there’s all the rides and you don’t actually have to sit through the stuff you don’t like,” junior Cameron Holland said. “It’s a place you can go to hang out with all your friends.”

Overall, if you’re looking for a fun time over Spring Break, Rodeo Austin is a good full day of entertainment. One day tickets to the fairgrounds are $8 per person and one day tickets for the fairgrounds and an all access carnival pass are $33 online but prices may vary at the gate.

“The last time I wasn’t in high school yet. I was going into high school. I’m really excited about it,” junior Chandler Krause. “When I went to the rodeo it was the first time I did anything with my boyfriend’s family and so it’s just kinda nostalgic to me and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
