The theatre department will flash back to the ‘80s with their spring musical, Jan. 21- 22 at 7 p.m. The musical is a comedy about a 35-year-old man who flashes back to his life in high school during the ‘80s and tries to win over the girl of his dreams.
“I wanted to put on a show that would rock the house,” theatre director Stephanie Smith said. “I wanted to produce a large scale musical with some awesome spectacle so that the audience would just have a blast and leave the theatre saying, ‘Wow! That was so fun!’ ”
The theatre group is going all-out for this production. There will be a car on-stage and the cast dances on it. All the music is fun and well-known including songs such as “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Footloose,” “Love Shack,” and “Kids of America.” The musical is going to be similar to a rock concert from the ‘80.
“Students will love it,” Smith said. “The live band includes electric guitars for crying out loud. It is going to rock.”
